Day 1: Kuching
Upon your arrival in Kuching, in Malaysian Borneo, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 2: Kuching
Today your guide will take you to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, just 24 kilometres from Kuching. Here, you will witness semi-wild orangutans in their natural habitat. The centre, dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned or rescued orangutans, hosts over 20 of these majestic creatures. Departing from Semenggoh, enjoy a 75-minute drive to Sarawak Cultural Village, nestled at the foot of Mount Santubong. This living museum showcases Sarawak’s cultural diversity, with demonstrations of tribal lifestyles by its 150 residents.
Experience the arts, crafts, and delicacies of seven ethnic groups, including the iconic longhouses of the Iban, Bidayuh, and Orang Ulu. Conclude your day with a vibrant multi-cultural dance performance before returning to your hotel for the night.
Day 3: Kuching - Bako National Park - Kuching
This morning, meet your guide and transfer to Bako National Park. Bako National Park is situated on a peninsula on the coast and the departure point for trips to the park is Bako Village, 35 minutes’ drive from Kuching.
From the village, proceed by boat for approximately 25 minutes to the park headquarters. En route, there is a chance to see crocodiles, sea eagles and other shore birds. Upon arrival, delve into the park’s network of trails, immersing yourself in the lush surroundings while searching for wildlife. As the afternoon approaches, return to Kuching, reflecting on the day’s adventures.
Day 4: Kuching - Mulu National Park
After breakfast, meet your guide and head to Kuching Airport for your flight to Mulu. Upon arrival at Mulu airport in the morning, transfer to Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa for check-in. In the afternoon, embark on a captivating 3 km plank walk through the pristine rainforest to the entrance of Deer Cave, the world’s largest cave passage. Inside, marvel at its vast dimensions, with an entrance 150 meters wide and 120 meters high, while exploring the moon-like landscape. Adjacent is Lang’s Cave, renowned for its stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Conclude the day at the Bat Observatory, witnessing millions of bats in a breathtaking exodus at sundown. Return to your accommodation after a torchlit trek back to the park headquarters.
Day 5: Mulu National Park
After breakfast, embark on a longboat journey upriver to Wind Cave, renowned for its stunning ‘King’s Chamber’ adorned with delicate stalactites and stalagmites. Traverse a plank walk along the limestone cliff, ascending 250 concrete steps to the entrance of Clearwater Cave. Here, unique plant species thrive, including the elusive one-leafed plant exclusive to Mulu. Witness photo-sensitive algae formations, illuminated by natural light. Nearby, indulge in a refreshing swim in a shaded area, nestled among towering rainforest trees. Enjoy a leisurely picnic or packed lunch before returning to your accommodation, with the afternoon free for relaxation or exploration at your leisure.
Day 6: Mulu National Park
After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time before being transferred to the airport where your journey through Sarawak concludes.
