Day 2: Cairo (B)
A day to remember! Meet your private Egyptologist guide who will unlock the secrets of the ancient capital on this full day tour. Begin your day with a visit to the impressive site of the Pyramids whose construction began in 2690 BC. The Pyramids of Mycerinus, Chefren and the Great Pyramid of Cheops are the only survivors from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Face the mystical Sphinx, reputedly used as target practice by Napoleon’s troops.
Optional (supplement applies): Take a Camel Ride across the sands of the desert with the Pyramids in the background.
A reservation is included for lunch (own expense) at the 9 Pyramids Lounge with stunning views overlooking the ancient Pyramids of Giza. This is a unique dining experience, unlike anything else in the world (payment for lunch to be made locally at the restaurant). View the 9 Pyramids Lounge Facebook Page for more details: https://www.facebook.com/9PyramidsLounge
After regathering your thoughts travel with your driver cross country to the ancient capital of Memphis, then continue to visit the original pyramids at Sakkara – the oldest surviving Egyptian pyramid. This most ancient of pyramids was the first to be built in ancient Egypt, preceding those at Giza by many centuries. Essentially a sequence of decreasingly sized mastaba placed atop each other, this architectural advance of raising tombs closer to the heavens ultimately led to the creation of the Great Pyramids of Giza. Overnight Cairo.
Day 3: Cairo (B)
From the oldest buildings in Egypt to one of the newest. Meet your private Egyptologist-Guide and embark on a captivating visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), one of the largest and most comprehensive archaeological museums in the world located near the Pyramids. Spanning over 5,000 years of history, this museum boasts an extraordinary collection of artifacts that trace the rich cultural heritage of Egypt inspired by the boy King Tutankhamun. Currently in its “second soft-opening phase,” the GEM has unveiled 12 of its main galleries, offering a glimpse into its vast treasures. As you step inside, you’ll be welcomed by the imposing figure of Ramses II, a colossal statue that has been relocated from Tahrir Square and now stands proudly in the museum’s grand foyer. From here, you’ll journey through the newly opened galleries, where over 15,000 meticulously curated artifacts are displayed. These exhibits span millennia, showcasing the incredible achievements of ancient Egyptian civilization, from its earliest dynasties to the grandeur of its later empires. With each step, you’ll delve deeper into the stories of pharaohs, gods, and everyday life, uncovering the mysteries and marvels of one of the world’s oldest and most influential cultures. (The GEM also has a shopping complex and cafes). Note: Access to the Tutankhamun galleries is restricted until the official opening. Afternoon at leisure.
Optional Tour (supplement applies): Top off an unforgettable day with an incredible evening attending the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids
Day 4: Cairo – Luxor (B)
This morning you will be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor. On arrival in Luxor you will be met by your private Egyptologist-Guide and head out to discover the Temple of Medinat Habu which is the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III. Continue to the house of famed archaeologist Howard Carter. Neglected for a long time, the house has been restored to its former state under the guidance of the famous Egyptologist and Archaeologist Dr Zahi Hawass. It is a fascinating insight into the life of the man who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun after years of searching the Valley of the Kings. Upon completion of your tour you will be transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Luxor.
Option: replace the visit to Medinat Habu/Howard Carters House with Half Day Trip to Denderah
Discover the wonders of Dendera on a private half-day tour with an expert Egyptologist. Travel comfortably from Luxor through the tranquil countryside to the Temple of Hathor—one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient sites. Spend around 90 minutes exploring the magnificent hypostyle hall, where 24 ornate columns bear the face of Hathor beneath a brilliantly painted astronomical ceiling. Your guide will decode the vivid Ptolemaic and Roman-era reliefs, rich with celestial symbolism and mythology. Visit hidden crypts and rooftop chapels while learning about Hathor’s role in Egyptian religion and daily life.
Day 5: Luxor – Embark on Dahabiya cruise (BLD)
Today embark on a boutique Dahabiya, a traditionally inspired Egyptian boat from the time of the Pharaohs, to sail the Nile in the style. Step back in time as the winds and tides set your course along the life-giving Nile. As you glide along the legendary Nile River, flanked by verdant palm groves and fertile farmland, immerse yourself in the storied landscapes that have inspired travellers for millennia. Along the route, you’ll encounter a succession of majestic temples and archaeological wonders, each bearing testament to Egypt’s illustrious past.
The Merit Dahabiya is a sailing boat and has no motors, If required it gets towed by a tugboat from a distance, so you never feel any disturbing sounds or vibration during your trip.
This afternoon visit the temple complex of Karnak and the Luxor Temple built in the 14th century by two kings – Amenophis III and Ramses II. Prepare to be dazzled by these legendary temples. Step back in time amidst the colossal columns and towering obelisks of Karnak Temple, dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, and wander through the avenue of sphinxes that once connected it to Luxor Temple. Arrive at the magnificent Temple of Luxor, with its imposing statues, and view the intricately carved hieroglyphics and atmospheric courtyards before returning to your cruise.
Overnight aboard your luxuriously appointed sailboat as you savour a chef-prepared meal moored alongside the West Bank.
Day 6: Luxor – Esna (BLD)
This morning visit the West Bank Necropolis and the burial ground of the Pharaohs – the Valley of the Kings. This is where Howard Carter explored for five years before he discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922, thus proving that not all the treasures had been released from this mysterious site. As recently as 2015 yet another unopened tomb was unearthed raising the tantalising prospect of more riches awaiting discovery. Your visit today includes a special upgraded ticket to include access to the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun and the Ramses VI Tomb. Later visit the nearby Valley of the Queens, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon which is believed to bestow great fortune on those who hear its fabled wailing noise. Take lunch on board your Dahabiya and relax for the afternoon as you sail to Esna. Moor tonight beside an island and overnight onboard your Dahabiya.
Innovative Bonus: Entry into Tutankhamun and Ramses VI included
Day 7: Esna – Edfu – Al Ramady Island (BLD)
Relax over breakfast as you cross the Esna Lock and sail towards Edfu. At Edfu you will visit one of the best-preserved temples of the Greco-Roman era, dedicated to Horus. This god the son of Isis and Osiris was the patron of many Pharaohs and, along with his parents, formed the Egyptian holy trinity. Continue sailing to Al Ramady Island. Dinner on board along with an exclusive Egyptian Rabab Show and overnight beside Al Ramady Island.
Day 8: Al Ramady Island – Kom Ombo – Aswan (BLD)
Breakfast on board this morning as you sail to Kom Ombo. Visit the remarkable Kom Ombo Temple which was jointly shared by the two Gods: Sobek, depicted with the head of a crocodile, and Horus, represented with the head of a falcon. It was constructed during the Ptolemaic period, spanning from 237 to 57 BCE. Admire the beautifully preserved murals and intricate bas-relief, adorned with inscriptions that offer valuable insights into language, mythology, and religion during the Egypt’s Greco-Roman era. Return to your Dahabiya and relax over lunch as you sail to Hor Diab Island where you can experience swimming in the purest and cleanest water of the Nile River. Dinner on board as you sail to Aswan. Overnight onboard your Dahabiya in Aswan.
Day 9: Aswan (BLD)
This morning take a small boat to the Philae Temple dedicated to the Goddess Isis, and the purported burial site of her husband Osiris. Later view the High Dam, the Old Dam and the ‘unfinished Obelisk’ lying in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan for a fascinating insight into how the ancients were able to construct such marvels. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight onboard your Dahabiya in Aswan.
Day 10: Aswan (B)
Optional (supplement applies): Visit to Abu Simbel
The two temples of Abu Simbel are amongst the most magnificent monuments in the world. Considered one of the most impressive archaeological sites in all of Egypt, not only for its historical significance, but also for the great engineering success in moving these temples to their present location. The master builder was Ramses II, one of Egypt’s greatest Pharaohs. The larger temple celebrates the Pharaoh himself while the smaller one honours his wife, Queen Nefertari. When the new Lake Nasser Dam was built in the 1960s, the temples were moved to save them from a watery grave. In an amazing feat of engineering, the temples were hewn into huge blocks of thirty tonnes each and relocated 180m further inland.
The optional tour includes flights Aswan/Abu Simbel/Aswan, meet and assist in Aswan and Abu Simbel, small group or private transfer to the temples, and priority entrance and guides.

Farewell your Dahabiya – This morning embark on a scenic motorboat journey to the Nubian Village on Soheil Island, nestled on the West Bank of the Nile near the Aswan Dam. As you sail past the First Cataract of Aswan, you’ll marvel at the clear, smooth waters and the natural reserve area dotted with small islands. This delightful three-hour tour offers a unique opportunity to interact with a Nubian family and immerse yourself in their culture and traditions. During the trip, you’ll pass significant landmarks such as the Agha Khan Mausoleum and the ruins of Elephantine Island. Upon arrival at the village, stroll through the traditional, colorful houses made from mud brick. Visit a local family to enjoy a refreshing Nubian drink, like mint or hibiscus tea, and learn about their history, culture, and way of life. Conclude the tour with a relaxing boat ride back to your hotel, taking in the sights of other charming villages along the way.
Day 11: Aswan – Cairo (B)
This morning you will be met at your hotel and transferred to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo. On arrival at Cairo Airport, you will be met and transferred by private vechicle to your downtown hotel.
This afternoon meet your guide and discover the rich layers of Islamic Cairo on an immersive afternoon walking tour through the heart of the city’s medieval past. Begin at Bab El Futouh, one of the historic gates of Old Cairo, and walk along the legendary Al-Moez Street, a beautifully preserved thoroughfare lined with centuries-old Islamic architecture. As you explore, your expert Egyptologist guide will lead you through a maze of mosques, mausoleums, sabils (ornate water fountains), and medieval mansions dating back to the Fatimid and Mamluk periods. Each building tells a story of Cairo’s golden age as a centre of Islamic art, culture, and learning. Pause to sample tamayah, Egypt’s flavourful twist on falafel, made with fava beans and fresh herbs—a must-try local delicacy. You’ll also have the option to relax at the famous El Fishawy Café, tucked in the heart of the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo’s most iconic marketplace. Stroll through the bazaar’s winding alleys, filled with lanterns, spices, and traditional crafts, before your tour ends with a comfortable return to your hotel.
