Depart Sydney and travel into the heart of New South Wales' Central West, arriving in the renowned wine region of Mudgee. Renowned for its award-winning wineries and celebrated food and wine culture, Mudgee is home to some of the state's finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Visit Lowe Family Wine Co. for a guided tasting of organic and biodynamic wines, then enjoy lunch overlooking the property's vineyards and rolling countryside.
Mudgee - Nyngan - Cobar

Travel west through the changing landscapes of regional New South Wales, stopping in Nyngan to uncover stories of pioneering life at the museum housed within the town's historic railway station. Continue to the outback town of Cobar, where a rich mining legacy is revealed at the Cobar Museum before sweeping views across the vast Open Cut Mine await from Fort Bourke Hill Lookout.

Travel to White Cliffs, Australia's oldest commercial opal field and one of the only places in the world where white opal is found. Descend into a working opal mine among the historic diggings to learn about the region's mining heritage and see how miners continue the search for these prized gemstones. Later, journey across the vast landscapes of far western New South Wales to Broken Hill, a city renowned for its rich mining history and vibrant arts scene.

Explore Broken Hill on a guided walking tour, discovering its grand Victorian and Art Deco architecture while learning how this remote mining settlement evolved into a nationally recognised centre for heritage, art and outback culture. Visit the Broken Hill City Art Gallery, the oldest regional art gallery in New South Wales, before enjoying free time to explore the city at your own pace. Later, head to The Living Desert and Sculptures, where 12 sandstone artworks overlook the Barrier Ranges, providing a spectacular setting to experience the changing colours of the outback at sunset, before dinner at the historic Palace Hotel, famous for its role in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Broken Hill (Silverton)

This morning, visit the historic outback town of Silverton, once a thriving silver mining settlement and now one of the region’s most iconic destinations. Wander the heritage streets, soak up the character of this fascinating "ghost town" and explore the Silverton Gaol & Historical Museum, home to colonial artefacts, early mining equipment and stories from the outback’s pioneering past. Return to Broken Hill for an afternoon at leisure, with the opportunity to relax or explore attractions such as the Royal Flying Doctor Outback Heritage Experience, Pro Hart Gallery or Outback Astronomy (own expense).
