Day 1, ARLES
Embark on the Colours of Provence cruise. (D)
Day 2, ARLES
Arles, known for its Roman heritage, offers a guided tour of landmarks like the Roman Amphitheater and Saint Trophime Church. Alternatively, bike along the Rhône to the Langlois Bridge, a Van Gogh favorite, or delve deeper into Van Gogh’s world with a special walking tour and visit to the Vincent van Gogh Foundation. In the afternoon, visit Les Baux de Provence, exploring its old village, shops, and galleries, and enjoy a unique presentation at Carrières de Lumières. Conclude with a visit to an olive farm and Saint Rémy de Provence, where Van Gogh created some of his masterpieces. (B,L,D)
Day 3, AVIGNON
Discover Avignon, the “City of Popes,” with choices including a guided tour of the Papal Palace and medieval walls, a tasting tour of regional specialties, or a bike tour. In the afternoon, visit the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct and UNESCO World Heritage Site. (B,L,D)
Day 4, VIVIERS
Explore the charming Viviers and visit the hilltop village of Grignan for a truffle hunt with a local farmer. Alternatively, take a guided tour of Viviers’ Saint-Vincent Cathedral, hike to scenic viewpoints, or enjoy a bike tour along the Rhône. (B,L,D)
Day 5, TOURNON
Ride a steam train through the Gorge du Doux, or visit Le Château de Tournon for a red wine and chocolate pairing. For a more active experience, hike through Tain l’Hermitage’s vineyards and visit a local winery. (B,L,D)
Day 6, VIENNE
Explore Vienne’s Roman heritage on a walking tour, including Augustus and Livia Temple and St. Pierre Abbey. For more activity, hike to Mount Pipet Monastery or bike along the ViaRhôna route. (B,L,D)
Day 7, LYON
Start with a walking tour of Fourvière Hill and old Lyon, including Notre-Dame de Fourvière and the St. Jean district. Visit Les Halles de Lyon – Paul Bocuse for local delicacies or join a bike tour. Later, tour a Beaujolais winery and taste its specialties. (B,L,D)
Day 8, LYON
Disembark and bid farewell to Lyon as you prepare for your return flight. (B)
