Renowned for its high quality of life, Buenos Aires is a dynamic city with a population nearing 3 million. Its architecture reflects a blend of Old World charm and New World modernity, and it boasts a lively cultural scene, including the world's busiest live theatre industry. Founded in 1580 by Spanish explorer Juan de Garay, Buenos Aires has a rich history and a bustling atmosphere characterised by crowded markets, tango dancers, colourful street art, and a dramatic skyline.
Day 1: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Buenos Aires, established in 1580 by Juan de Garay, stands as Argentina's capital and a cosmopolitan hub that bridges European sophistication with Latin American flair. Known as the 'Paris of South America,' the city showcases a blend of historical architecture and modern vibrancy, reflecting its deep-rooted cultural heritage and connections with global cities like Moscow and Miami.
Day 1: Jorge Newberry Airfield, Buenos Aires, and Air Charter to Ushuaia
Once considered inhospitable for European settlers, Ushuaia was the domain of the indigenous Yahgan People. Today, this southernmost city, often called 'the end of the world,' sits along the Beagle Channel, framed by the striking Monte Olivia and its snow-capped peaks. Ushuaia’s landscape transitions from dense forests to alpine terrains, serving as the gateway to Antarctica. Beyond its role as a departure point for Antarctic adventures, Ushuaia offers a rich tapestry of natural beauty and cultural heritage, including treks in Tierra del Fuego National Park and exhibits at 'The End of the World' museum.
Days 2 and 3: At Sea
Days 4 to 8: Antarctic Experience
Depending on weather, ice conditions, and wildlife sightings, your captain and expedition team will plan additional days of exploration and adventure in Antarctica.
