This morning you will board the coach to head to the quaint township of Havelock North along the way you will climb up toward Te Mata Peak for some spectacular views back towards Napier and over the Tuki Tuki river. Havelock North offers boutique shopping, a thriving café culture and although just kilometres from Hastings the town, locally known as ‘the village’ feels miles away.
After exploring the streets of Havelock North you will travel to the coastal town of Te Awanga and visit Clearview Winery for lunch. Established in 1987, owner-operated Clearview Estate’s ‘Red Shed’ Restaurant and cellar door are long-established havens of Mediterranean inspired hospitality. You will partake in a wine tasting prior to your lunch at the restaurant. Following this we will be picked up by Gannet Safaris Overland for a tour of the gannet colony. You will be transported in their modern fleet of 4×4 vehicles through pristine coastline, working farms, native bush and to New Zealand’s largest privately-owned nature reserve.
An adventure in itself, you will safari in style and comfort over picturesque Cape Kidnappers Station traversing riverbeds, broad rolling pastures, steep gullies and the most breath taking views of Hawkes Bay and beyond. With no walking required, you are whisked away to an untouched paradise for wildlife including gannets and a predator free space for kiwi birds and other rare birds to roam.
