Important Information

Day 1: Athens – Nafplion (D)

This morning you will be collected from your hotel for a five day tour of some of Greece’s wonderful classical sights.

Drive on the coast road along the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal where a short stop will be made. Cross over to the Peloponnese and visit the archaeological attractions of Epidaurus including the famous 4th Century BC theatre with its incredible acoustics. Proceed to the town of Nafplio. Afternoon at leisure to explore the charming old town of Nafplio – the first capital of the Kingdom of Greece.

Day 2: Nauplion – Olympia (BD)

Morning at leisure to further explore this fascinating town. Around mid-day depart for Mycenae where you will visit the archaeological site and the tomb of Agamemnon, brother of the jilted husband of Helen of Troy and the man who commanded the united Greek forces in the ensuing war. Continue to Olympia via the central Peloponnese towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Olympia was the site of the Olympic Games in classical times with the event being held every four years from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Overnight in Olympia.

Day 3: Olympia – Delphi (BD)

This morning explore Olympia, cradle of the Olympic Games, visiting the sanctuary of Olympian Zeus and the Museum. Continue through the plains of Ilia and Achaia to the magnificent bridge which crosses the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea en-route to Delphi for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Delphi – Kalambaka (BD)

This morning explore Delphi’s ancient sanctuary. Visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum, where you can see many archaeological treasures including a unique bronze charioteer. Later proceed to Kalambaka a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of the gigantic stone pillars of Meteora. Dinner and overnight Kalambaka.

Day 5: Kalambaka – Athens (B)

After breakfast visit Meteora. Perched atop massive columns of rock which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless monasteries, which house exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Return to Athens via Trikala, Larmia and Thermopylae (short stop to view the Leonida’s Monument). Arrive back to Athens around 7.00pm and continue with your own arrangements.

Climate Resilience Tax
The Greek government have established a climate resilience tax for all tourists staying in any kind of Hotel, Apartment, Villa, etc. in any destination in Greece. This tax is applied locally and is payable directly by guests at check-in. The tax is a fixed Euro amount and ranges from EUR2 to EUR15 per room per night, depending on the hotel category.

Double Beds
A double bedded room can be requested but cannot be guaranteed. In Greece double rooms are very limited. Please ask on check-in with the hotel/cruise boat to see what is available.

Greece Mainland Coach Tours
Scheduled tours and sightseeing are bilingual unless specified. Wifi may be available on full day tours to Delphi, Argolis and all multi day tours. Many sightseeing tours require a moderate amount of walking around historical / cultural sites therefore a good level of fitness will ensure you get a maximum enjoyment from your visit.

Dress Code for Monasteries of Meteora
Women are required to wear a long skirt and cover their shoulders. Men must wear long pants. Sleeveless shirts are not allowed
