Important Information
Day 1: Athens – Delphi (D)
This morning you will be collected from your hotel (or from a nearby hotel pickup point) for a four day tour of some of Greece’s wonderful classical sights. Prehistory, the Classical period, Roman domination, the Byzantine Empire, the Crusades and Modern times: Greece through the centuries will unfold before you on this four day tour.
Leave Athens for Delphi. Travel via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Arrive in Delphi, nestled in the mountains of Parnassus with unforgettable views across acres of olive trees as far as the Gulf of Corinth. Delphi was the site of the famous Oracle whose advice was sought by states and individuals. Visit the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios (including the Treasury of the Athenians and Temple of Apollo), and the Museum. This afternoon is at leisure. You may like to further explore this area on your own. Dinner and overnight in Delphi.
Day 2: Delphi – Kalambaka (BD)
This morning is at leisure to enjoy more of Delphi’s breathtaking mountain views. This afternoon leave Delphi for an interesting trip through Central Greece and the town of Lamia to Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of the gigantic stone pillars of Meteora. Dinner and overnight Kalambaka.
Day 3: Kalambaka – Athens (B)
After breakfast, Explore Meteora, where breathtaking landscapes are dominated by ancient monasteries perched atop massive rocks that appear to defy gravity. Here, you can admire stunning examples of Byzantine art. On your way back to Athens, pass through Trikala, Lamia, and Thermopylae, making a brief stop to view Leonidas’s Monument across the road. You’ll arrive in Athens in the early evening (approx. 7.00pm). Overnight in Athens is not included tonight.
